  • AES to Dante Devices

I'm searching for a AES to Dante converter with is suitable for cinematechnic.

I only found two models with enough channels so far (Focusright and Sonifex).

We need it for mobile setups and not for permanent cinema installations.

Right now we always worked with converting to analog and back which is really stupid.

Anyone has expericed or advise for a setup to go from DCP Servers into Dante?

There is Q-SYS but that is probably a roundabout way to do it. That is, use a DCIO/DCIO-H to get the AES3 audio into Q-SYS and then use the Core's software Dante to send the audio out. There is also a QIO-AES 8x8 to get the audio into Q-SYS.

You can go straight to the source for Dante with the AVIO series...get enough to handle the channel count you are dealing with (they're pretty low-cost).

GDC has an AES3/AES67 bidirectional converter https://www.gdc-tech.com/cinema-solu...nal-converter/ if your Dante devices are AES67 capable.
      (personally never seen or used)

        Thanks. That looks interesting.

Will try to get a price.

I see a Q-SYS I/O frame on eBay, right now, that has 4 AES3 cards (so 16 channels of AES3) for low $$$. That and a Core Nano (which I think there is one on eBay now too), you could get quite a bit of AES3 to Dante for relatively low-cost...if you are okay with used.
