  • Barco CCB failed during update

During update od Barco DP2K-12C, it failed on step 4, installing edid on dvi-a. After reboot, i have tried reupdate, reboot etc but always it fails on step 4. I have also tried to update with older versions, custom update step by step but same. It either fails to update on edid or fan controller board update.
Another CCB installee and everything is ok with projector.
During update, version step was not so big, maybe two version ahead....nothing that i haven't done allready.
Is there any other way to try update? I have hear that is possible to reset CCB, but don't know exact procedure....something about cut out power during boot should default it. I have tried few times but it always stays same, even i doubt defaulting would help, as i can reach board.
When projector boots now, tail light is yellow and only doswer is lit red on keyboard. Barco update companion can reach projector for update, and in communicator you can see projector on it ip, but cannot connect to it.

I've had the exact same thing happen several times, most recently when updating a projector from 2.10.121 to 125 (it isn't always the DVI EDIDs that the updater borks out on, but it is always at one of the stage 4 components). I don't think that this fault is specifically provoked by trying to jump over versions when updating.. Barco's official line is that the CCB is buggered and that you need a new one (that isn't the precise terminology they use, but it has the same meaning). If there is an unofficial way to rescue it, I'd love to know it, too.

I am unaware of a CCB rescue. Barco has long been unconcerned about the reparability of things at the board level. Only the ICP (and the TI one) has a form of rescue. The CCB, particularly the router, seems to have a finite life. Apparently, whatever this fault is also has a finite life. The problem could be the component or possibly a failed solder joint (RoHS and all), it is difficult to say. Mind you, I'm going through this with Christie S2 stuff as well (PIBs, Touchscreen Controllers, power supplies). As a projector gets over its 12th year, the odds seem to really go up.

Solder joints as well flash memory failing are common problems. Take for example simple usb flash memory, just suddenly you cannot write any data to it than formattibg helps or sometimes not.....I remember one discuss few years ago, it was within industrial electronic, but the similar can be applied to projector electronic. Thing was to expect normal lige around 12 years without problem, than next 12 to 15 years with problems that usualy are gone with reseting and so, and after 15 years everything is unpredictable and it can fail just suddenly.
And to get back on CCB, i have even tried different stage of update to skip, but on all stage after 3 it fails, no mather which step is chosen.
