  • PC windows to doremi servers

Hello everyone, I have a question, we have five Doremi servers networked together. The question is that we can share files between the servers, since we have them networked together. My question is: with a Windows computer, could we use it as an ingest source to the servers? By FPT I can connect to the servers and also by VNC, but I could connect it as if it were another server, apart and thus be able to pass files? Greetings to all

Doremi can certainly share content and SPLs with each other. You would need to create the sourced in the "Content Feed Manager" for each of the servers that have IP/User/PW (they need to be at the manager level). Once created (AND SAVED) there, in the Ingest Manager, they will show up as available sources. You can specify in the Advanced Options what you want to be able to share (you can share SPLs too, for instance).

You can specify your Windows computer as your content source as well. You would have to configure your computer as an FTP source first (Leo has posted a couple of places on the process, using Window's own tools).

Note, most servers, even from different brands, can share content with each other, providing you know the user/pw for the directory where content is stored.

      All correct.
Generally we recommend a separate content network, using the other ethernet port (whichever you don't use for control of the projector etc). You need to add a switch and cabling and address the ports.
I haven't seen any issues due too it, but content transfers use a lot of network bandwidth and it is possible that control cues can get dropped due to network congestion.

Thank you very much for the answers, I looked for the manual you commented and I managed to do it. I already have the computer as a source of ingest. Thanks for everything

I would disagree with this. Packet loss is typically happening as buffers are overwhelmed by to many connections pushing packets into a buffer. "To many connections" being the focus of the issue here. Not the bandwidth of the pip being used.

In a controlled environment like cinema where only a few divices are in a position to talk to each other. Packet loss is unlikely.

Broadcasts packets. That's another issue, and it when devices start doing uncontrolled broadcasts. In my experience, that's typically the cause of packet loss in a projection network. So be careful of what devices you connect to any network segment. Make sure they behave.
