  • Christie CP2000-M - need help for Web User Interface "user" and "admin" passwords

First of all I would like to say... Hello to everyone here! I am very new to this forum but I need some help. I hope some of you can help me. I recently bought a Christie CP2000-M. Unfortunately it does not have a Control Display Panel. So the only way to start and control it is via the Web User Interface. Can someone give me a "user" or "admin" passwords?

It's both a rule of this forum and required by the NDAs that techs have to sign when doing the training classes run by manufacturers that we do not post factory default login credentials on this site. The reason is that someone who does not know what they are doing could cause pricey and/or dangerous damage to their equipment, and so having this information available from a Google search would not be a good idea. For example, if you install a 1.6kW lamp and then tell the software that it's 7kW...

Suggest that you email support.cinema [at] christiedigital.com

Yes, I understand you. Thanks for the answer! But unfortunately the Web User Interface does not give me access to even the simple On and Off of the projector. Without a Username and Password I can't even turn it on. Which in my opinion is not normal.

I think the obvious route is to source a control panel for the unit. But Christie support is your best option for login credentials unless someone DMs you something.

I agree with Gord on S2, without that TPC you can't do much - if anything - turn it on in the last format is the only thing I know of. The CP200M is a weird beast (with the ZX), I think they had a different TPC from the other CP2000s (not sure) and they're the only ones with that web GUI. I don't recall if you can actually do all the functions of the TPC from that GUI, stuff like changing a lamp. I know the S1 TPCs are way simpler than in S2 - those are pretty much the brains of the projector.
I didn't know there are multiple logins, the only user level I used was "service" but again posting passwords here is forbidden.

The CP2000-M and CP2000-ZX are the same front end and use the "calculator" style of projector controller that they call the "Control Display Panel" (CDP). Since the CDP has a lamp on/off and Power On/Off that does not require any login (they are physical buttons, as is the douser), presuming a complete projector, one can operate the projector without any external devices. You only need passwords when you want to configure the projector. The CDP is also your "taillights" in that light of projectors.

As for the web interface, they decided that all control requires some form of login. You don't know who has found their way to that projector. Heck, Christie defaults to external control being off. Someone with a suitable user level/pw has to give permission for outside devices to control it. You may not agree with their approach but that decision was made almost 2-decades ago. Get over it. Their S2 stuff we away from the slow web interface (which was harmonious with their nasty ACT automation system so, if you bought into the UI, they were, at least uniform, for the era).

When Christie went to the S2, they went away from the web UI and back to a VNC method of getting to the all powerful (well shared power with the PIB) TPC. At least, unlike the CP2000S series, the S2 didn't require turning on VNC before use. They built the CP2000S series so well, I suspect that a high percentage of them are still out there.

The S4 Christie stuff is now back to a web UI where the touchpanel is optional and, effectively, a purpose built computer with a dedicated web browser to the projector.

So, back to the CDP...you can do most things on it, if you so desire but you are in for a world of hurt as entering in passwords on its limited buttons are painful and its menu structure is not always self-apparent and you will be hunting about trying to find what you are looking for.

Fun Fact, the CDP shipped with a longish cord. You can dismount the CDP and move to where it might be more comfortable/convenient. When you are done, you can park it back in its space as well as angle it as desired (well, angle it upwards).
