Hello! Bantam Cinema in CT here. It's time to learn how to automate switching volume levels between trailers and the feature, since the trailers are always so much louder. I am assuming there is a way to do this, we just don't know how! Can anyone help? Right now our entire playlists are at one continuous volume. Thanks!

What type of cinema sound processor do you use? Is your setup serviced by cinema technicians?
You need to set up commands on your server that can be sent to the cinema audio processor to instruct it to play at different softer levels during parts of your programme / show play lists.
These so called fader cues may have been set up on your system by the installer, but nobody taught you how to use them, or, they have not been set up so far at all.

Thank you all so far. We use USL JSD-60 processors. I can see that is listed under devices under the automation tab, but the cue list only includes sync, lighting, scope/flat, feature and credits/show end cues - nothing related to sound... THANKS for any additional specifics. I reached out to our tech as well but they are always very very busy!

Our GDC UI is older, but we set up device fader automations against our Dolby CP750.
what you are after is in chapter 5 (and especially 5.5) of the SR1000 manual.

Both devices will want to be on the same subnet or routed to talk to each other. I’m not as familiar yet with the USL commands but if GDC has the device listed they should already be implemented and available for automation cue creation.
