  • Server receives KDM but movie does not play

Hi everyone, my Dolby 256 - cat 862 server has this error. I hope you can help me fix it.

The thing is, I copied the KDM movie, the server received the KDM but the movie file did not open and could not run (the KDM is correct), and there was also a notification that "NTP IS NOT SYNCHROZINED TO A SERVER"

What error are you getting when you try to play the film?

The NTP notification is to do with synchronizing the time on your server and is (probably) unrelated.

That means I copied the KDM of that movie but the server did not load that KDM. So I could not click to play that movie

I checked the KDM Serial again and it was completely correct, the thing is that the server displayed that KDM on the screen but when I clicked LOAD, the server did not accept it.

KDM has absolutely no problem, the correct KDM serial of that server. The server loaded and ran that KDM but the movie file still reported "missing kdm"

Here is a video of the specific error.

Looks like the KDM is not for the CPL you have. If you drag out tab so you can read the whole file name and then compare it to the KDM you'll see something is different. You'll need to ask Deluxe (or whoever is handling the release in your territory) to issue a new KDM for the CPL you have, or a new DCP with the CPLs to match the KDMs they've sent.

If the server complains about missing KDM, then, even if it appears to you as correct, is NOT the right KDM for this CPL.

If you have access to KDM AND CPL file of the CPL you want to play on a standard computer with an internet browser, you can check wether they fit using this web tool:

              https://www.kdm-inspector.com

Technically, KDMs and CPLs are not assigned by their visible file name, but by their UUID that is contained in the file.

Yep that right there, if we experience mis-matching I always snap a photo of the UUID to send off to the studio/rep/distributor, whatever the flavor of the day is.
